So I have a huge project for work to compare these two CPUs! We're using them for our min specs and need to know if they're pretty similar performance-wise WITHOUT OCing!
If you dont think they're the same and there is a huge difference, what would be a similar CPU that would make them both even (either changing the AMD or the P4). THANK YOU MUCH! |

This ain't easy but I think that the AMD chip would be the better processor not only due to the higher running speed but more importantly the AMD has bigger on-die cache sizes.

That Athlon is quite a bit faster than the Intel.
Look here...note that the athlon is on the "low-mid range" chart, while the p4 is on the "low end" one. This should help you find similar cpus. Athlon XP 3k+ http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_look...lon+XP+3000%2B P4 1.4 (there's no 1.3 there...lol) http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_look...tium+4+1.40GHz What are you comparing between them? What is this project trying to find?

Another vote for the AthlonXP - it blows early Netburst Pentium 4s out of the water.
Something more on par with the AthlonXP would be maybe a Northwood or Prescott P4 in the 2.6-3.0 range. |
