IRT #1,

Save your money and build a computer.

http://www.pcclub.com/systems_config...bomid=UPG01032

You can overlcock that processor faster than 2.2GHz
You get a good motherboard

$300

http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...temno=A4330305
There's GOOD RAM, not crappy RAM that will come with your computer.

$119

http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...temno=A3450968
Im good.

$100

http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...temno=A4622772
Good for you.

$130

http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...temno=A1546923
Put that monitor to work!

$35

http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...temno=A1307024
I'd hit it.

$129.99

OR you could get MY case.

http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...emno=A1330503#

http://www.pcclub.com/product_detail...temno=A9602767
This is leet stuff.

$169.

Total: 982$

Now you have a computer that's completely upgradeable, comes with a great motherboard, a nice monitor, a well ventilated and easily upgradeable case, a great OCing processor, a great graphics card for the price, and a huge hard drive. This is worth the extra money believe me. Moms are workable. I walked into PC Club, and came out with 800$ in computer parts and built a new computer (i didn't walk out with ram or a monitor, i used old ones). Just tell you it will last forever and you wont ask for anything for Xmas or your birthday. PLus you could just turn around and sell this machine for 1200$ on www.craigslist.org or ebay.

like i said!
only you explained it much better,
yeah but if your gonna build, make sure you find a good store (it helps to go there too)
i go to Tigerdirect, because there is a store near my house, and unlike a lot of places, they know what they are talking about and can really help you.
also almost everything there has rebates

Yeah building your own computer is nice but if you dont want to do that that computer is actually pretty nice. Unlike most other prebuilt computers that is pretty upgradeable. It's socket 939 so later you could upgrade the processor and it has pci-e so that can also be upgraded. That is actually a good deal I would go for it.

i really dont know anything about putting computers together except putting in sound and vid cards, swapping harddrives, replacing processors that are the same socket, putting in PSU's and putting in ram. i have no clue how to put in a motherboard or getting the bios to recognize anything and I just dont trust my self.

okay, when i built mine, i didn't know how to do anything that you just listed
read about a thousand manuals, ask for advice from you computer store, and run with it, and if things get too heavy, have someone do it for ya.
you'll thank me later
but if you do (for whatever reason) decide to buy the compaq, it's probably a good choice in terms of upgradability

Ok you have 98% done.

Can you screw in at least one screw?

And finally, do you really have to think twice? Crappy un-upgradeable dell, or nice upgradeable machine that YOU built YOURSELF.

Black box with bad stuff.
Shiny see-through box with good stuff.

Your choice.

If you actually would go to compaq's website you could see the motherboards specifications and then you would know it is pretty upgradeable. Also he never said he was getting a dell.

Ok lets have a contest. Who can get a better score on 3dmark05 with the same system specs, with one that was built and one thats a dell or a compaq or an hp.

By the way, I think your San Diego 3700 processor is underclocked, it's running at 2.4GHz and it's a 3700?? Mine runs at 2.2 and its a 3200.
