I recently purchased this monitor / tv. Is it a tv or monitor or both? I hear they use Tv panels or something to lower the cost of producing larger monitors.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824001392

The max resolution is 1920 x 1080. Unfortunately I wanted a 1920 x 1200 but newegg has a very limited selection and all monitors are apparently the standard 1920 x 1080.

I plugged the monitor up to my computer and the initial startup produced very fuzzy images.

I've managed to change the brightness, contrast, sharpness, and color. Now the quality is very close to that of my last monitor, 95% similarity.

There are 3 main settings the tv has, dynamic, normal and movie. The monitor only looks good in movie mode. In normal and dynamic, the colors are extremal loud and overly vibrant. Words become fuzzy.

I am wondering if I am forever stuck using movie mode?
also is the quality due to the rather low resolution for the 27 in tv?

or is it because the monitor is actually an HDTV which is not on par with monitor quality?

or is this due to other factors such as pixel pitch? (.31 ish mm)

Right now in movie mode, the quality can pass for a monitor.

NVM, i realized that i was using hdmi output which triggered tv mode. switched to dvi which switched to monitor format. Its looking great now.
