i recently went up the attic and found an old hard drive of a computer that i dismantled a few years back for its parts.
i was wandering if i could stick it in my new comp just to save all my collage work on and maybe a few other ducuments?
as far as i know it still works and its got windows 95 on it LOL.
its not realy a big hard drive about 6 gb i think but it would be a shame for it to go in the trash.
the name of the hdd is MAXTOR and its model is 7540rv.
thanks.

should work. Set jumpers on hard drive according to how you want to install into your current machine (slave/master).

What OS are you running on your current machine? After you install the drive and if you're running with XP, go to (in category view) start>control panel>performance&maintenance>administrative tools>computer management. In left pane, select disk management. In right pane select the drive>right-click>choose format>follow instructions to format the drive.

i have windows xp home edition sp2.
will there be an spare cable for it already in the computer?
also to save asking in a new thread would it be worth installing red hat linux because ive heard its good.
Thanks for all replies
