what is the point/benifit of converting a 4 pin power connector to BAFO Serial ATA power?

Ive got one of those leads for my SATA harddrive. I cant be arsed to use it because I saw no diffrence in anything. Not even tempreture....

This is an adapter for SATA, and BAFO is the name of the manufacturer of the adapter.
