Default HD 4850 previewed vs GT 200 and G92.

Almost as fast as the GTX 260 for half the price.

*Replaced the French review with an English one*. And AA performance is astonishing. That was one of the complaints of R600/RV670 and AMD definitely dealt with it .

This means that the HD 4870 will almost certainly be faster than the GTX 260 for $100 less. Not to mention, it consumes far less power, and lots of motherboards support CF.

http://techreport.com/articles.x/14967/1

I speak fluent French so if anyone wants a good translation of a part of the article, just ask.

Performance roundup: Faster than the 9800GTX and 8800ULTRA, and around 90% of the GTX 260.

I think we have a winner...

damn all these graphics cards owning the market lol they confuse me,

if u ask me graphics card shud b rated in FPS on 1 dedicated test game,

i mean how am i meant to know whats faster,

a 8800Gt , 8800GTS, 8800GTX, 9800GT, 8800Gs, hd3850, hd 3870.

damn nvidia and ATI to hell.

bring back the 7600GT.

ook i sort of get the basic numbers, nvidia first number the series 7XXX 8XXX 9XXX

2nd number the rating in that series, e.g 8800 better than 8600, but then things get confusing how am i ment to know which is better 7900 vs 8600 vs 8800 vs 9600 ???

and then they add stupid names GT / Gs / GTX / GTS/ they shud jus add numbers in the series,

aka 86xx series, worse 8610 better 8620 better 8630 better 8640 ....... best 8690

then 8810, 8820,8830.

is there something im missing is there a mutual understanding in the GS/GT/GTS/GTX thing that im missing,

and ATI dont even get me started on them, hd3850 hd 3870 ? ok the 3870 is better than the 3850 but is there anything else to it ? they dont seem to be many more ATI cards out unless there are but im completely missing the point,

n e ways apreciate it if some1 cud shed some light for me,

Interesting article, it sure performs as good as in some and better in others for sure.

OT: Have you tried the 177.35 driver? I see they used the 177.34 for their tests, that was released under NDA for G260 testers, there is a 177.35 floating around the net, nice driver.

It's Nvidia's naming that is messed up, they admitted it themselves. For exemple, the 8800GT is faster than the 8800GTS, WTF??

I haven't no.

"Rendez-vous la semaine prochaine pour un test complet des Radeon HD 4800 !"
Come back next week for a complete test of the HD 4800 series.

Hopefully we'll see the new Nvidia driver and the new Catalyst then.

The 3870 X2 beats the HD 4850 in nearly every test.

FAIL!

But it won't beat the forthcoming HD 4870 X2

If a single 4850 does that well...I can't wait to see what two 4870s will do :O

June 25th, right?

Just wait until the 4870x2 comes along :P I have my eye on that!

I think I may have to get water cooling. I'm getting error messages on some first person shooter games.. might be caused by heating problems.

June 25th huh? Coming up!!!
