Default have Creative solved the popping/crackling problem with X-Fi soundcards?

Im thinking about updating my soundcard and other things on my comp

I have been looking at these two cards:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...rodid=SC-044-CL

or

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...rodid=SC-032-CL

the second more than the first. I then came across this review which lead to this forum about crackling and popping problems that alot of people have had with the X-Fi cards. It says that it only happens on certain spec machines. i was wondering if anyone on here has had this problem and if it has been resolved yet?

here is the forum:
http://forums.creative.com/creativel...cending&page=1

i would just like to add that it is 188 pages full of people moaning and groaning about creatives X-Fi. if they have a fix I will buy but if they havnt Im not parting with my money.

edit: then carrys on to this 122 page thread about it as well

It looks like it's not really too big of a problem (only .03% of users have it), and it's supposed to be fixed if you update the BIOS on your motherboard.

This is generally called a buffer underrun when this happens. The soundcard does not have enough infomation from the computer, and temporarily cannot play the audio. The easy solution to this is to increase the buffer size (However the bigger the buffer, the higher the latency). If the cards have an adjustable buffer, they could fix this.
