you would be amazed how many errors like his can be linked to a failing HDD. like i said in my first post, i've seen a few like this before.
 
I have seen them also. In this case i would look to the motherboard first though...
 
if its 6 years old there no fuckin way in hell unless it was 5000 dolors it cna support 1 gig or ram
i ahve a pentuim 3 and it cna support a half
 
correct me if i'm wrong, but if you put in a card thats bigger than the board can reconize, doesn't it only use as much as it can reconise? if so, i don't think haveing extra ram would cause this (not saying it isn't possible tho.)

I have seen it work both ways, i have seen it not boot at all, use up to its limits and ect....

It all depends on the make and model of the board and componets your using.
