Hardware Initiate Failed. Please check device! The BIOS does not be installed.

Occasionally, this is an error I'm receiving upon bootup when it's scanning for my two SATA hard drives.

I have an AOpen AK86-L motherboard and two SATA150 hard drives. (80GB, 400GB). It doesn't detect either one. I have recently installed the 400 GB about a month ago, but both have been working fine up until this point. Naturally, at this point, I'd assume the error indicates an issue with the SATA controller, a loose cable, or coincidentally a problem with both drives. But I'm not inclined to suspect any of those things, since the problem doesn't occur every time, seemingly at random. Everything boots up just fine otherwise. Not knowing what else it could be, I re-flashed my BIOS (not really knowing if that could be a culprit or not), but no luck.

So, I'd be happy to receive any suggestions you might have. I'm out of ideas.

Thank you. :)

how about reinstalling the sata driver that came with the board it may just be slightly corrupt its worth a try

Didn't work, but thank you. It was worth a shot, and I hadn't thought to try that. Any other ideas? I'm completely at a loss.
