hi.. i'm trying to install a hard drive into my computer i have a 40gig wd hard drive and a 120maxtor hdd . neither one is being detected. i hooked up my dvdrw to test the power and cables and everything else seems to be working ok. i checked the jumper settings and they are correct as far as i know. ne ideas on what is wrong.. oh ya and i tried detecting them in the cmos.

thanks .
ne help is greatly appreciated!

Did you check in the bios to see if it is set to autodetect? If you have the mobo manual refer to it.

If the dvd drive is being detected it has to be either the jumpers are not set correctly or the ide cables are not connected correctly. Are the hdd's connected to the end of the ide cable? If you are using cable select on the jumpers set them to master. Also be sure you have 80 conductor ide ribbons and not 40 conductor.
