Hard drive wipe

I have been drastically losing hard drive space, and I do not know why. I also have many programs that I can not get rid of, as well as pop ups that my gray ware finders can't find. So I think I want to just start over and wipe out my hard drive, renistall windows and live a new happy life. Is this possible? Do I need any software? Anything special I should know? Are they any avaible walkthroughs? Thank you.

Put in your magical 'Windows Xp' Disk. And just delete your partitions, and continue with a fresh install. This will remove all data on the drive but if you back up all your important stuff it should be fine!

i would suggest a defrag of the hhd after the fresh install of xp. i've been hearing that the process
speeds up the starup of xp. so far it's true.

oh, yeah ...you want to do this in safe mode...
it's alot faster and more efficient.
