Question Hard drive swapping programs?

My computer is curently haveing some issues. The hard drive at random times refuses to turn on. I restart the compter and it sometimes works and sometimes not but eventally it starts spinning. I belive the hard drive is shot.

My question is if there is a way to swap all the information from the old hard drive on to the new one so that I do not have to install all the programs again and loose the info on the hard drive.

What do you guys think? I hope i posted in the right place and i hope it not a common question i looked at the 3 most current pages of posts.

Welcome to ComputerForums!!! You could get a disk imaging software program like Acronis True Image to make a clone of your disk onto a new disk. It's also good to use that program to make regular images of your disk and store them onto an external hard drive or cd's or something in case you every want or need to restore your computer to that image state. Norton Ghost is a similar disk imaging program.
