Default Hard drive question?

have a question about my recent Asus desktop computer it says there is 2 TB hard drive but 1 of them say WIN 7 C: and the other says DATA D: each having 1 TB but only the C: drive is being used so how do I get files over to the D: drive do I just cut and paste for examples picture files from the C drive to the D drive to free up space on the C drive?
Thank you for any help with this

Alan

It sounds like the hard drive is partitioned. Yes, you can move stuff from C to D to save space on C.
