um , my laptop is prebuilt and it has xp home , i do have a spare xp home disk would that work
would i have to type in the product key

yes it will still ask for your key, if you dont know it download a key finder/logger that scans your drive for the install key used to activate yours.don't you have a back up partition on the laptop then so you can restore it back to factory settings?
