i have a computer that we think the mother board is about dead but we need to get the files off the harddrive. i took it out the failing computers hard drive out and put it in a diff one but cant figure out how to get it to reconize the drive after it boots up. there both western digital caviar. so any ideas?

What drive is what? If the old drive that your trying to get data off is the IDE one then make it a slave. Can you see both drives in the BIOS? if yo can then let the PC boot and see if you can see the drives in explorer. If you cant see them in window explorer then goto my computer > manage > disk management and see what it says about the drive in there.
Post the information in there and also the OS you have brought the drive from and also the OS your moving to, is the drive password protected? you might need to take ownership of the files etc.
