hey ther =)

i tried installing linux on a maxtor 60gb hard drive with no luck. Then, upon giving up, it is no longer windows compatible (or something along those lines).

Th bios trash at th startup recognises it, but it dows not show up anywhere in windows. Futhermore, it wont allow u to do a clean install of windows on it :S

it wont work on any of my 3 pc's. Basicly, all i want to know, is whether ive screwed it up to death, or whether there's something that can be done to salvage it?

thanks for any help, cos i really dont want to have to buy another hd if i can avoid it.

I would Download and Run Maxtors Diagnostic tools on the drive

you can get them here,

This is for a Floppy

this is a bootable CD ISO image

Here is the navigation menu,

You can also try a lowlevel format with maxtors utilities and then try to install windows.

good luck,
let me know if you need anymore help :D

Yeah, a low level format first, with one of the tools that Lamb Of God has listed should sort it out, then just do a normal clean install and ya should be sorted
