Default Hard Drive partitioning woes.

for some reason, i cant get win7 to allow me to extend my System partition. ive extended an active system partition in Vista but it wont let me in 7. it only gives me the option to shrink it...

ideas?

I can't do it either on my system...so I'd guess you can't do it anymore for Windows 7.

well ,my recovery partition contains the backup for windows Vista (factory installed OS) and i guess i should back up my current program files and OS to some place.

im sure 77GB can be put to use somehow. Maybe its because Win7 was installed as a second OS (next to XP) and now that XP is gone, the partition is infront (to the left) of Win7 and it cant find it.

Have you tried a third party partitioning application? Check out Parted Magic. I use it all the time, works really well.
