Hard-Drive not detected till restart

I've had this problem for a while, and have just dealt with it, because it isn't such a huge issue.

Pretty much, when I turn my computer on, my SATA2 hard-drive isn't detected until I reset. I'm pretty sure it's not detected, but either way I am getting a "hard drive boot error, press enter" error. I've just bypassed this by turning on my computer, waiting till the error comes up, and then ctrl+alt+deleting to restart, in which it boots fine.

I have a Gigabyte GA-M68SM-S2 motherboard, and a Seagate 320G SATA2 Hard-Drive.

Yes. Same thing whether it's CD as first or second. As for hard-drive priority, yes, it's the only bootable hard-drive anyway.

As far as I remember, yes. I have 2 operating systems installed on 2 partitions... Vista 64 and XP Pro 32. When the hdd boots it asks whether I want to boot Windows Vista or "Earlier version of Windows" (XP).
