try this.
windows xp: put boot disk in, press f3 when it prompts you just before you install windows, now it will run dos command, now type 1 to log into admin leave pass blank or put admin pass in type chkdsk /p
or try chkdsk /r
one of repairs
for windows vista: shove disk in and it should auto repair assuming you follow instructions correct
