I just had the same issue happen to me today on my new build with new mobo/ processor, ram but same hdd does this mean the drive is definitely bad?
It behaved for a few days in the new rig but i was listening to music while playing minecraft and the music just stopped so I went into computer and lo and behold the hard drive had disappeared.
It seems to happen when I am doing something else like playing a game or something while listening to music or video from the hard drive in question
