guild wars codec??

My friend has just given me back the account for GW I gave him a long time ago, he said he would buy it but of course, never did. So he gave it to me back.

I tried logging in and I couldn't. The password he gave me didn't work.

So I asked him and he said you need to get a codec and it will work. He said google "guild wars codec." So I did, and I got nothing. I just ran all the updates for it yesterday, is he telling the truth??

he changed the email and pw to waht he wants, so if I recovered the pw, I would need the email to log on and get it. I dont have the pw for the email!!
