I was wondeirng my dad's fan is acting up can i use a lilttle wd 40 in it? Or would that be a bad idea.

*bump* please i need a little help. It's the fan on his video card and it's too old to find a replacement and he doesn't wanna spend money on a new one.

hmm, take it off the card if you can and spray it away from the computer, since it should be able to come off.

What size of fan is it if its too old to be replaced? Most fans on video cards are just glued on and can be taken off.

I would definetly not do it near the computer as it might damage it.

I don't know about greasing it. I never heard of it done before. I don't see any reason how it can hurt it as long as you don't over grease the bearings. Apply a little of it. I would just use some cooling oil. I can't stand the smell of WD-40.

it was screwed on and i had the little applier nozzle and i figured that he needed a new card anyways so i just took the card out and turned it upside down and then sprayed it on so it would drip down. And i put it back in works great.
