Default graphics card problems

helllo i bought a new inno3d 6600gt AGP graqphics card yesterday and when i first installed it i had lots of white lines ll over the screen and when it booted into windows my monitor went into standby. i took out the graphics card and put my old one back in which worked fine. about 3 hours later i tried my new card again and it worked fine. this morning when i turned on my PC i had the white lines back again.

any help would be appreciated

i have the following system

asus A7N8X-E deluxe motherboard
AMD athlon XP 2500+
1025 MB PC2100 memory
80 gig hardrive
550w power supply

my old card was 8x AGP so i know that isnt a problem

check your agp card isn't loose and you have screwed it in firmly + check the cables. it could also be getting to hot

Could have been caused by static damage...Did you ground yourself when you went in the computer?
