I have been looking at a number of cards recently, and I would like some advice. I think that I could spend up to $300 on a card if the performance were worth the extra money. I have been looking at the ATI 5850 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102884
and the nVidia GTX 285 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125280
WHich of these cards would be the better buy in your opinion?
Also, which would be a better CPU? The Intel Core i7 930 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819115225
or the AMD Phenom X6 1090t http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103849
. Which one would be better in a computer designed mostly for games, internet use, and entertainment. Are the extra 2 cores on the AMD worth it? What would they do better than the intel CPU? I was also looking at this one http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103851
if I had to cut back on spending.
I am initially leaning toward trying for an Intel setup, just because I have heard more positive things about Intel than AMD in terms of performance, my biggest reservation against AMD is the lack of SLI support (or so it seems), so I couldnt do multiple monitors or SLI with an nVidia card with an AMD chip.
Also, what is the difference between dual and triple channel RAM? is the i7 only compatible with triple?
Thank you for your help and clearing up some confusion!
