i would upgrade the CPU, since it seems like its whats holding you back.
Then get an 8800GT for about $110 on newegg if you reside in the states. or around that price range wherever you buy.
Your PSU should be enough.
and 8800GT requires 400W with 22A i think.
i dont know if it could run Warhead on high settings. But in order to do it, its best to get a new CPU and GPU.

I own a 8800GT and it easily players Warhead on enthusiast settings. I do have motion blur off. I'm not a fan.

i dont really think that is possible for an 8800GT.
Its best to play a game with 30FPS and up, though that is not considered maxed out.
while an constant 30fps is good, its bad when a big explosion happens.

I dont know if you are exaggerating about being able to run it on the highest setting with an 8800GT, but from the benchmarks i have seen with them C2 Extreme CPU, they cant even get that high of FPS unless they either SLI or have a really good graphics like the 28x series. either that, they play on a really low resolution setting.

The 8800GT has 112 Shaders, 56 TMUs, 16 ROPs and a 256 bit memory interface. The 8600GTS has 32 shaders, 8 TMUs,8 ROPs and a 128 bit memory interface. Clock speed has very little bearing on performance.

Check if your PSU has a 6 pin PCI-E connector, and then check the amperage rating for the +12V rail(s). You may not need a new PSU at all.

A 8800GT/9800GT should be all you need for 1280x1024, you can pick one up for pretty cheap now: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130397
