Got given flatscreen

I recently got given a lg flatron L1715s to replace my CRT screen. Got all the cables set up correct turb the computer on and no picture i though a cable must have bben loose at first so i checked. Restarted and still no picture tryed it on a different computer and still no picture. Turned on a lamp and i cpould see a faint picture i the background of the desktop but there is no backlight. So now im stumped is the monitor screwed or is this a common fault that can be fixed.

Is youre Video card plugged in all the way?

Yes the videocard is plugged in all the way.

Does that monitor support both DVI and VGA? does it give you an option to change inputs?

It only supports VGA no DVI connector

Can you try a different video card?

If it didn't work on two different computers I would blame the monitor. Something's not right.

Does the OSD on the monitor work correctly?

The OSD works properly but you have to realy look hard to see anything on the screen.

Have you tried uncreasing the brightness and contrast from the OSD menu?
