With the exception of future water cooling or SLI, I don't see to much of a need for future proofing a PSU. Things are only getting more efficient, something that needs 500w today will only need 400w tomorrow.

The only thing I can see is new connectors, which would make the most expensive 1000w + today obsolete.

q6600@3.6 w/ 1.5v, 2 sata hdd's, dvd/cdr combo, 3 120mm fans, 8800GT(power hungry) = 358w full load.

It would work fine.

I order them like this: PC P&E, Enermax, Earthwatts, Seasonic.

this psu is awesome, best one I've ever used. I also wrote a review about it at computervitals.com so check that if you want to. (you will find it in the hardware reviews section). I'm using it with a 9600gt too.

Good PSU, I'd still take the PC P&E w/ 23A on the +12v.

Even w/ a good overclock you'll come in under 300w, so it's more than enough.

That OCZ mammikoura posted is a beast with 72A available.

The PC P&E w/ 23A on the +12v is still shy of what a 9600GT requires. They need at the minimum of 400W with 26A on the 12V rail.

The OCZ has 17A on the +12v

The 9600GT barely draws any power at all...... and definitely doesn't need 26A.

it has enough watts yes.
but 23A is horrible for +12v.

even this $10 (after rebates) psu has more than 23a.

no. The ocz has 18a on a single +12v rail. 4 rails = 4 x 18A = 72A
