Default Good processor for HTPC

What is a good processor for a htpc. I am going to use it for playing movies and songs. Thats all, no games, no recording. Suggest something cheap. Amd or intel doesn't matter.

What exactly is your budget? Do you care what socket it is? I would recommend something like the Athlon X2 3800+ or the Core2Duo E6300 for a sub $200 budget. Good performance, but it isn't top notch.

Core 2 Duo E6300 or E6400. Either one will do very well.

sub 125 budget. Not trying to build a monster thoust. But if 125 won't cut it i can go to 150. As i say just movies and songs. My overall budget is around 300. I already have keyboard/mouse, and dvd-+rw, and hard drive. Budget is 300 considering i already have this stuff which probably costs 150 altogether.

sub 150 is very difficult. The motherboards themselves for P965 are $100+. That leaves no room for a decent to good processor. I would save up some more if i were you.
