ok, so i was thinking...i got an extra 80mm Antec case fan...

so...why cant i just some how mount it ontop of my stock p4 940 heatsink/fan? the stock fan and the case fan do not rub, theres about 3 or so mm's of clearence between the two. will it hurt the stock fan to do this?

it lines up rather well, and i held it over the CPU for about 5 mins and the temp fell from 39 C to 36 C

heres what i mean...
(my cams got good ISO for catching a 2600rpm fan like that, lol)

ofcourse this is only a fill in idea till i get around to getting a good heatsink/fan.

any recommendations on a good sink/fan btw?

um not into doing extreame overclocking, but i do like my stuff staying cold to last a bit longer.

Mounting one fan on top of another would be a bad idea. There would be too much turbulence between the two to be effective.

ya, thats what i was thinking, with the turbulance an stuff..

what is a good bang for the buck CPU cooler?

my budget is anything you guys be willing to pay for, for the performance.
nothing over 70 i guess? idk. what ever works great and will extend my cpu's life.

I know there are high priced products out there, that just dont do anything special.

my only worry some is that i may mess up the thermal grease or something when cleaning the die after removing the stock setup :/
