for gaming i wouldnt recommend quad core, no game is going to take up all 4 cores, i'd prefer dual core and add the saved moeny onto video card.

i also wouldn't buy from tigerdirect, its just a little bit expensive than newegg

Oh ok i was wondering because when i order from newegg.com it cost 100 dollars more lol and thanks i will probaly switch to duo AND what video card do you suggest?

hmm depends what games you play, but the 9800 is already a very decent card. If you don't play high-end games, the card you have is good enough. If you want to up it a little bit more, try the 9800gtx

If your willing to spend a bit on a video card I would have to recommend a ATI 4870. It's $300 but with mine, I can play Crysis at 1280x1024 on very high and get 20FPS. It's playable but to make it smoother I turn it down to High. Remember this is with 4x AA on Edge-Detect so it looked fantastic.

If you get a ATI 4870 you won't have to buy another video card for a good while.

If you can't spend the money, then get a ATI 4850 and a crossfire motherboard. If you do that, you can upgrade later to two 4850s which is quite a steal.

OP: I, personally, like the route you took with the C2Q. The 6600 is capable of great OCing. The reason I like the quad is because it's very future proof. If you keep a computer for 3-4 years like me, then this is the way to go. You won't have as good of a performance as you would with an E8400+, but in the future, when games are written with multi-threading in mind, you will notice a difference in performance. I would also take Need Wow Now's advice and switch over to the HD4850/70. You can then get a motherboard with an Intel chipset which are far better overclockers. I would also like to point out a possible change in hard drives. The Samsung Spinpoint F1 is known to be the fastest 7200RPM. You can get a 320GB, 500GB, or 1TB. I would also switch HSF from that Mascool to a Xigmatek.

I would recommend changing the CPU cooler. Get the Xigmatek HDT S1283. It's $6.00 more. But, it's worth it. I own it and get amazing temperatures on stock and overclock. It performs as well as the high end coolers. But, it's half the price and weighs a good bit less.

I agree with this man. Id go crossfire, I personally like crossfire so much more than sli.

and im pretty sure you can get the 4870 on newegg for 249.99 now.
