Default Getting wireless network settings back?

I setup windows xp home and now I need to get my internet up, but I have no idea where to go or what to do in order to get my wirless network settings back. My dad has the modem so I installed the usb adapter already, but I need help on what to do next. And I really want to avoid calling Time Warner since they are idiots and have you on hold for 2 hours so I would prefer doing it myself, but if some of this has to be done by contacting them then I will give in. Thanks as always to anyone who helps.
