Default is getting top of the line worth it?

do you guys think that getting a top of the line system right now is worth it?
because if you think, in the next few years the system's price will drop drastically with all the new technology out. you could then get the same system for alot less. just look at the amd processors prices now compared to a few months ago.

I dont think its actually worth it becuase you will never get anything that will stay top of the range for long becuase something will come out the next day. Do some research on it and see what you can come up with.

It's not the best idea, but by the time you wait for something to drop prices, that system is going to be WAY behind what has come out. The more top of the line you go, the more future proof you are

just keep at an average technological level. Like for now, I would say it would be: Athlon 3500+, 1Gb RAM, GeForce 7600.
