Default Getting raw video off DVDs

I've got a Sony camcorder that records onto mini dvd-r disks. I've got a CD full of video from our last Mustang cruise and I need to edit it via Windows Movie Maker, Premiere, etc. How can I get the video OFF the DVD and convert it into, say, an mpeg file?

I'll search for the CD that might have come with the camcorder but it was purchased two years ago. I hope I still have it.
