Ok, m8 dropped off a pc ( he knows nothing ) and says his screen doesnt work. Ok, wel. his mobo does not have an onboard vid card, it did have some crappy PCI one but ive got rid of it and im going to put an AGP init. If I put this card in, will it work straight away? Or should I fish the PCI out of the bin?

Keep the PCI card just in case. It's hard to say if it will work right away. We're hoping it would. Double check BIOS for video interface used (PCI, AGP), check monitor connections, video card connections. See if you can boot up in Safe Mode. When you do install the new video card, delete the old Display adapter and install new drivers for the new video card.
