Default get rid of boot menu

I have only one copy of vista installed and I am still getting a boot menu saying
windows vista and earlier version of windows. how do I get rid of the menu?

Did you do a clean reformat or did you just do a upgrade? Is XP on a partition on that harddrive?

no this is a hard drive out of my old computer, it had vista on it but i did a reinstall cuz it didnt boot then the menu appeared. the earlier version of windows option does nothing

Well its possible on the second Vista install you forgot to reformat the drive again and trace amounts of the first Vista reside on the drive causing the boot menu to pop up. Thats more likely then not the case because as you said clicking the previous version does nothing. Try loading Vista and clicking on computer go to your main drive. See if there's a windows.old file on there. If so delete it.

already deleted it the menu still pops up
