Default Gaming Ping Tips?

Anyone have any tips as how to reduce ping in games, specifically Battlefield 2?
I have a 2.6 Megabit per second connection and for some reason I get ping in around 150.

I have absolutely nothing running as far as I can tell. It's a direct connection with no wireless issues and the only two processes running under my username is taskmgr and explorer.

play in a server that is closer to u. Also, the upload speed in the internet connection is alot more important than download.

And remember that in bf2 when u choose the server the pings are screwed up. Like it rarely gives u anything under 100, even if the real ping is alot smaller.

find the server info in the games and see what country/state there in and then try and find the closest server to you. that simple.

Just sort the server list by ping, find a decent server with low ping..
