For the money, it's a solid chip.

It's worth mentioning that for the same price, you can get an i5-3450.

If you like overclocking and have a nice PSU, go with the FX-8150. Overclocked, these chips are beastly.

Well when i go to a website with pc's that i can customize, they usually have computers that have either intel or amd processors, so i made two computers with everything the exact same except for the proccesors. The amd computer was cheaper.

---------- Post added at 04:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:56 PM ----------

if i don't get overclocking is the amd fx 8150 a good proccesor for games.

As I said before, the AMD is a solid chip. I have one on my wish list. I'm currently using a Phenom II.

I'd go for a high end FX-6***

A lot of programs don't support multi-core, so I'd personally find the higher clock speed for the price beneficial.

I have a choice of these: Which one would be best to get for gaming?
amd fx 4100 CPU (4x 3.60GHz/4MB L2 Cache)
AMD FX-6100 CPU (6x 3.30GHz/6MB L2 Cache)
AMD FX-8120 CPU (8x 3.10GHz/8MB L2 Cache)
AMD FX-8150 CPU (8x 3.60GHz/8MB L2 Cache)

What do you mean by some prograns don't support multiple cores? The chip won't work with that program or just 4 out of the 8 cores will work for that program.
