How would my gaming experience paticuarly (sp?) be with these system specifications?

MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 Ultra ATX AMD
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor (Venice) Socket 939 Retail
Corsair TWINX2048-3200C2PT 2GB Kit DDR400 XMS3200 Memory w/Platinum Heat Spreader
MSI NX6600GT-TD128E Geforce 6600GT 128MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI-Express x16 Video Card
Windows XP Proffessional
CREATIVE Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value SB0400 8 (7.1) Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound

1. How much of a difference would I really notice with say a 3000 or a 3200?
2. Overall, how good is it for gaming and multitasking?
3. Any reccomendations?
4. For the total, with the 250GB HD from WD and CD/DVD-Rom, and case, would 1300 be a good deal for this system?

Basically I just want to get the most out of my experience, for the money I'm spending. (Best bang for the buck, with reliability).

Thank you all very much for helping... :)

You should consider getting a better hard drive:

The Raptors are pretty nice, but pricey. More cache and higher RPM rate. Overall, the specs you post is good for gaming. 6600GT is a mid range video card so if you want to go all out, consider the 6800 GT or Ultra. Better yet, you can try the Radeon X850 series. Athlon systems does a good job with multitasking. Although specs show Intel performance processors may do a better job at some applications. Gaming wise, AMD is still the way to go.

thats a very nice system. IMO the 3000+ is all you need for gaming, stock cooling im at 2.4ghz and my games fly. im using shitty ram, the SLI version of that mobo, the exact same video card, windows XP PRO too, my cpu is winchester though. anyhoo i play CSS at like 100+ most of the time and 80+ all of the time. except inferno. that map is hard on the gear. top settings except AA and AF. i would recommend it for a SLI system but the 6800 is what you should look at for a single PCI-EX system. but for that price i dont think it can be beat

Is the hard drive I selected a bad one..?

So, do you think I would be better off lowering to a 3000+ and investing in a 6800?

It's not a bad hard drive. Western Digital ranks high among hard drive manufacturers. Just the Raptor series are faster. I would still choose the 3500+ CPU and get a 6800 series video card.

lower to the 3000+ and get the 6800gt if you have to. if u can still afford the 3500+ that would be good too.

How much are you willing to spend anyways? I would say a good $1500-$2,000? You can build a bad ass system for that price.
