I've never heard of that.. just don't install the software. Default drivers for the drive should load fine...!

I'm running an LG DVD burner right now and have never seen, nor heard of anything like that happening. They make one the the better drives available.


EDIT:
After doing some poking around, some are reporting that LG has included a program called "BlueBirds" into their drives. It is simply a drag and burn program, it is not ad-ware. There is a firmware update that removes/disables that program: LG Product Support. It can be found under the Drivers & Software tab.

I honestly wouldn't recommend the CM-690,
Sure it may be huge and tooless

but it just INVITES dust

I think its made of mesh(someone correct that)
and the dust gets everywhere
That allows for alot of airflow, but I have to clean my case like once a week.
