im going to be purchasing a new computer and im wondering how well this computer will preform in games.

AMD 64 3500+ socket 939 2.2ghz
n4orce sli mobo with Gigabit Lan
1 6600gt Geforce Pci-ex
1gb ddr400 pc3200
160gb sata hdd
7.1 sound card

Note: It may have 2 6600gt's how much preformance will this add?

Can i run games like half life 2 (counter strike source) at high settings?
Can someone give me an example or comparison to their computer. (assuming it has only one 6600gt)

I run hl2 with my comp at the highest settings possible (1280 x1040) or whatever for a 17" lcd. Another 6600gt would increase performance up 80% I think. Around that... Of course, I've oc'ed...

since the 6600GT is on subjuct.. if I was to buy one of those, would you say that a 400 watt PSU would have enough juice for it? (bare in mind, I have one case fan, 2 cd roms, and one hard drive.) oh and I would need 8xagp... haven't moved over to PCI-E yet..

Go for at least a 500w PSU, just to be safe, then you've got assurance you can put another 6600 in whenever you feel the need.

it's an AGP motherboard, I wont have a PCI-E motherboard anytime soon, til I have job anyway, so I can't do SLI.

awesome.
heh, i'm on a geforceFX 5200, so something HAS to be done, :p
from what I understand, 6600GTs only come in 128 meg memory? if 256 is available.. I wonder how much more they are... if it's too much more, I think i'll stick to 128.. since doom3 is pretty much the only game I can think of off the top of my head that can even take advantage of 256 or more.

yeah, the 6600GTs only come with 128 meg memory. Oops - I didn't look hard enough, they come with 256 as well.

Hmmm the 6600 does have a 256mb version but not the 6600GT I believe, I don't think its a vast amount more that the 128 either, you'd have to see for yourself.
In my opinion, I'd say go for the 256mb, you're getting more power at the end of the day, and it'll let you stretch that bit further.
