Hi all, just a quick simple question:

Would installing games on a seperate HDD to the OS disk increase performance? I have bought a new 400GB HDD and was thinking of installing the games on that and using the previous 200GB HDD for the OS.

Any ideas?

Regards,
AJ

maybe only slightly better performance nothing realy noticable , maybe quicker loading times but the graphics perfrmance is mostly down to cpu ram and motherboard

Load times might recieve a little increase, but partitioning your hard drive for games and other stuff isn't usually the kinda thing you do when you're looking for substantial performance gains in game.

it should be about the same as they have said, maybe a little more since there are only games on that harddrive and not the operating system so thats less that the harddrive has to seek out, should work fine, ive done it but i never noticed a difference in load times or anything...

There should be a small amount difference since most game play is stored in the memory, if you have Raptor drives then the seek time will be smaller, also like the others said the Cpu will have a factor in this also.
