Default FTP accounts

Is there a program I can use to setup an ftp account? I wanted to setup one up so that I can transfer files but I cannot figure out where and how. I then got a server and saw it was ftp but when I put the data in it wouldn't work. So where is a free place where I can get working ftp?
Thanks

What server software are you using to setup your FTP? It should come with software to setup accounts and upload files.

Cheers!

Yeah, FTP is not P2P. You dont just set up an account, You set up an account on a specific server. You need to find a server before you can set up an account

It says that I need to setup a ftp account. I don't own a website though. Are there any free ftp hosts?
