Everything I find under 700 dollars has this Intel GMA X3100 card, and everything that has anything else (be it nVidia, or ATI) costs 999, It's like there IS no in between there. The things that actually DO cost about 800 have a dedicated card that (apparently) would put you better off with the integrated crap.

I want to Photoshop, AIM, Use WMP, and Firefox with about 10 tabs all at the same time. I do that with the P4 of my parents that I can get on sometimes and it locks up every time. What do I need to look for that will give me 4ish hours of battery life, and still run all of that when its plugged in and not have a seizure, without sending me into a thousand dollars of debt? I have 2 hours and 45 minutes every day of waiting in between class so 2 hours of battery life will murder me by the end of the semester.

What I'm pretty much finding is at the bottom. By the time I find something good and think it may be the best deal i'm going to find, someone tells me that that particular model/brand sucks and theres some reason not to get it. it just pisses the fire out of me becaue I dont want to just wait forever to get the damn thing, when i finally got a good sum of money to buy it.

well if you want a lot of battery life you want a 9 cell battery at minimum
i cant find anything wrong with any of them notebooks brands either apart from the toshiba one ,i have heard many people say toshibas build quality in recent years has fallen

can you possibly post any links to them?
that would be cool
but if i were you i would just bite the bullet and get......... none of them
the 8 cell is the best that you posted

you would be better off just building your own through dell or somewhere like that
that way you would get a dedicated gpu and a 9 cell battery
just my $.02

yea my old one sucks.
the x1300 is good enough to run photoshop, and the rest just relies on a good amount of ram. id probs go with the 699 acer. if possible get a 9cell battery as muz said, but you'll still get 2-3 hours if tweaked right (im guessing, as mine can easily do that).
