Fruity Loops 5

Hi, I was wondering how I would record in Fruity Loops using a direct audio connection to my soundcard (not usb MIDI). I know my cables are plugged right because my guitar and piano go in to cubase (another music maker) but I must have some settings wrong in my FL 5 program. Any help would be great, thanks. (hopefully someone here uses this software)
