its overclocking it making it overheat!!!!! ahhh were allll going to dieeeeeee
i think its to do with.... acctuly i have apserloutly no idea and i am sittting here watching tv i could tell u whats on tv but not much else

Must be doing something to it, or at least changing the way windows works with it...

I wonder if it could cause corruption, copying data or something... will have to try

This tweak use to be applied to 56K modems years ago (WIndows 95 era). I guess someone tried it on the hard disk and saw improvement.
That's why most hard drive now have a cache of their own, to chunk a little speed.
