Depends on the game. For example, an FPS games, you can get by with 30FPS+, while for fighting games, they need to be 50FPS+ just to pull off the combos and such.
If it were up to me, I would keep it close to 60FPS.

OK, ill put it this way. 4 4890's is overkill unless you have 4 super high density resolution monitors or something.

yes but your missing the point of the question
the question is, will you see much of a difference if you have a graphics card in an x8 slot compared to an x16 slot

if you would want to spend a bit extra on the 4890's and get amazing overclocking abilities, i would advise you to get two 4890 toxic sapphire cards, they can do well over 1Ghz core clock and 1050Mhz Memory Clock

Crysis at the extreme max with a toxic 4890 overclocked, watch in HD, its amazing

wow, only thing is that the atomics got pretty bad reviews from what i've seen compared to other cards, and they're a lot more expensive, and they spit hot air out into your case. i thing i'm gunna get this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814161278 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814131156 or this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102847
which one do you guys think i should go with?

that toxic pawns all of those

and what reviews did you see that were bad? the toxic beats the GTX 285 in most games, and in crossfire it can beat out the 295 at high resolutions, trust me, its far from crap

as far as the heat problem, Vapor X is an amazing cooler for a GPU, it runs alot cooler then those cards u listed aswell, plus if u get a good case with amazing cooling, it wolnt matter what heat it produces, you could put a blow torch in a antec 1200 and u wouldn't even see a temp change on ur proc
