Default Floppy problems

I don't use my floppies any more, but mom does for school work(one of those sony camera's that uses the floppy drive and all) Anyway, on their computer, when you change disks, it's like it keeps the same info that was on the old disk. It did this with 98 and is still doing it with 2000. The drive itself seems to work fine otherwise...

I connected my USB drive and it worked fine that way, but I'm trying to avoid getting anything new for this computer. I doubt it is the floppy drive itself, but I do have extras to replace the old one.

Oh, I tried just refeshing the window with the files, it doesn't show anything new...
