Question Floppy disk partition table

Hey guys....i have a friend who has a floppy disk....but the data is irrecoverable. The data is definately on there, but windows fails to recognize the disk. my question is...are there any good FREEWARE programs out there that help restore partition info or retrieve info from dead disks? I have used ones such as r-studio and restorer 2000....but those cost money to buy the software. I want a free version of that! If anyone knows or has ideas, id appreciate it.
