Default firewire problem

i dont have a fire wire port on my computer so di i have to buy a card or is there any usb adaptors i can get if not.does anyone know any other way of transfering video camera footage to my computer as i do allot of mountain bike filming and im wanting to edit it

as far as i know theres no adapter for firewire to usb or vise versa for that matter but what u can do is buy a firewire pci card like this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815104226

its very easy to fit all u have to do is open up the case and slot it in the only wire u will need is a firewire cable to go from the card to your camera

I think it comes with a cable to ... I edit all my mtb and ski videos with adobe premiere or avid express from my camera connected via firewire.

I'm near DC, so I go to fountainhead and wakefield mostly, sometimes I get out to Wintergreen or Snowshoe.
