Default Firewire Cable Question

I am looking at some firewire cables to use with my camcorder that I just recently bought. Is there a difference between 6 pin to 4 pin and 4 pin to 6 pin. I do not think there is but thought I would raise the question. The camcorder has the 4 pin and my PC has the 6 pin firewire plug in the back. I just do not want to mess something up by using the wrong cable.

I dunno, I thought all firewire plugs were the same? you won't mess anything up by using the wrong cable, it just won't work.
